Climbing, Sun Mar 30

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Climbing last week went well, despite being worn out. The crimp strength i lost over chistmas seems to be back, but i am definitely missing something in the tech department. Some of these 5.10+ and 5.11 climbs seem way harder than they should! And there is a 5.10 layback which takes everything out of me. I think i am going to start doing laps on harder routes (usually only do laps on 5.8/5.9).

Kitchen Reno Update

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

It has been 2 weeks so far and it’s not yet done. This weekend was supposed to be the final push but of course i got another cold and am totally drained of all energy. Oh well, next weekend i guess.

Tired

Monday, March 24th, 2008

I took last week off to work on the kitchen. At first the pace was feverish, but eventually it slowed down as i got tired of assembling cabinets and checking for plumb etc. A lot of time was used up waiting for plaster to dry, so only the upper cabinets are all in. Jo is going to paint tomorrow and possibly i will install the run of base cabinets and counter where the sink will be. This will require a little plumbing work. Maybe that side of the kitchen will be complete by week’s end, then on saturday i can do the opposite side of the kitchen. Then we’re in the home stretch (flooring and trimwork). I will be glad to be done this project.

Not good enough…

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Tomorrow is ‘good friday’ but the Nanaimo home depot is open anyway. This is great, but not good enough. I am still waiting for 24-hour grocery stores. Do you hear that Nanaimo? Even Orillia (town of about 30,000) had a 24-hour grocery.

Climbing, Fri Mar 14

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Last night was a huge improvement over Tuesday. Despite some critical technical errors on some tough climbs, i was still able to complete three 5.11’s, a variety of 5.10 (a thru d) and interspersed some 8s and 9s as rest climbs. There was also one route which is unrated but i think was possibly a 12-; extremely crimpy and lots of smearing required, actually caused a little numbness in my fingertips. Completed this with only one fall.
