No, this isn’t a climbing blog. However, i’d like to report that i managed to redpoint two 5.11 routes last night (5.11b/c). Tried to follow up with a 5.12 but was way too exhausted. Getting close though. Regarding the election.. I may not comment too much about it because i am pretty satisfied with the result. If it had gone horribly wrong i would have more to spout about. Anyhow, more on that later i guess.

Somehow neglected to pay the credit card bill last month! Got dinged $20 for it, grr. No idea where the bill actually went, recycling maybe .. which would be bad because that means it did not go through the paper shredder.

Outsourcing.

Wednesday, January 18th, 2006

Watched a good documentary last night on PBS: Private Warriors. It’s all about how the US Military is outsourcing everything in Iraq, stuff that the military should probably be doing themselves. Part of the focus is on private security contractors, which was both exciting and scary. The outsourcing looks like a huge money drain; wouldn’t it be great if the US simply spent its way into oblivion? Haven’t climbed for a week, due to flu. Symptoms and side effects have almost disappeared, so i hope to be back at the gym tomorrow. Last tuesday (day before the flu hit) i bouldered 2 V6 routes.. that’s supposedly equivalent to 5.12+. Progress!

almost 5.12..

Was 3 holds away from nailing a 5.12 tonight. Progress continues steadily and surely. Calgary Chris has recommended some reading on training for climbing which i will be checking out soon. Next goals are to be able to run up a few 5.11+ routes in a night, and to find someone who is interested in lead climbing.. current partners just aren’t that gung ho :I

1st climbing update of 06

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

Went climbing last night, back to the Tue/Thu schedule. It was great: on-sited a 5.11- and redpointed a 5.11 i struggled with a few weeks back. There is still a seemingly impossible 5.11 that begins as a short boulder on which i cannot figure out even the 1st 4 moves.. frustrating.. but i should have it licked within a few weeks i think. :)
