Tuesday Tidbits.

Tuesday, November 30th, 2004

A Search & Rescue helicopter flew over this morning. A little while later i saw on CTV NewsNet that a couple of guys had jumped into the Nanaimo River while fleeing from police. Must have been pretty anxious to get away, that river must be near freezing this time of year. Another reason I hate VB6: no type checking on parameters that are user defined data types (ie, objects) when compiling 2600 meet this friday, and once again no posters have been put up. I’m back at the gym again these days. Anyone looking for a climbing partner in Nanaimo?

Flavour Beans

Coffee is magical stuff. I just took a swig that had a hint of manure or something. That’s fucked up. Quite often, i’ll get the soothing taste of cigarette from a cup of coffee. How is it that a single cup of coffee can taste so different each time you take a mouthful? Heavy metals in the beans?

too static.

So I got a static ip months ago, and i’ve yet to make use of it. What the hell has happened to me?! Warning to all geeks who value their computer time: don’t get a life!

HASH(0x8aa9ae4)You’re Nova Scotia. People have spread rumours about you and you have suffered from stereotyping. Few people take the time out to get to know the real you. You hate labels. You are patriotic and loyal. What Canadian Province Are You?

Peace, Order, and Good Government

I think a lot of Canadians fear that Bush is a walking time bomb, ready to go off at any second and destroy the planet. I think there’s some substance to this fear, but it’s a little unrealistic. The US only has so much might. If it’s spread too thin it wouldn’t be effective. Plus, I think more countries will more strongly oppose the next proposed invasion, wherever it might be; even Great Britain - they know they were wrong to go to Iraq and i doubt they’ll support another similar campaign. In any case, Canadians need to stop pointing at the US as an example of what not to do, and need to start setting the example and doing more to demonstrate that the multicultural, multilateral thinking is the way to go. Right now, many canuckleheads define themselves as being ‘not-american’. What kind of national identity is that?!
