“Stapp reasoned that a properly restrained, aft-facing human being could withstand a land impact of some 80 knots (135 feet per second [148 km/h!]) in a spacecraft if the g forces were applied transversely, or through the body, and if the spacecraft did not collapse on him.” From here

The 9th of September marked the end of the 3rd year for this blog. Soon the code will be retired in favour of something more functional. Probably a couple of months down the road… slowly but surely. This weekend i help yet another person move to their new place in Whalley (Surrey). And in another month i help my sister move to her new place… which happens to be about 6 blocks from mine! Too bad Mrs Sema4 and myself plan to move out of town within the next year…

I got back from my Chicago trip on Friday. I was actually only in Chicago from Monday through Wednesday, but I stopped in Calgary on the way home until Thursday night, and then stayed in Victoria on Friday and telecommuted from there. Chicago was fine.. the install came with its regular hardware issues, and we had everything running and working on schedule. We ate at “The Ram” in Rosemont, where they had good food and good beer. I had ever so minor hassles from the “US Border Protection” - suffice to say that the folks in Calgary are the friendliest i’ve ever dealt with! In Calgary i visited an old friend who took me climbing at the gym he frequents (the Stronghold , i believe), where i had a great fun and decided that i really ought to get into the sport (I have climbed before but never made it a pastime). It couldn’t have happened at a better time, since Mrs. Sema4 has been bugging me to go climbing with her for quite a while now! This weekend’s camping trip was cancelled due to threat of rain.
