Well, the air conditioning in the office is acting quite stange at the moment - it’s blowing cool air, but at a very low velocity, as though the fan is dying. Thus, the office is quite warm at the moment, and i just put some cold water on my arms and in my hair in an effort to try and aid my body’s cooling system… And then as I returned to my office, Bruce commented on how warm it was, and proceeded to put on his fleece jacket!

When Deli and I went on site to commandeer a network the other day, i joked that it was like we were a tiger team or something. I should have kept my mouth shut. Little did I know that our couple-of-hour job would turn into a many-day headache due to a rogue sysadmin. Basically the guy refused to relinquish any of the admin passwords, and walked with backup tapes and network documentation. Yes, it’s possible to reset the NT Administrator password with this excellent (and free) utility, but it’s still a nuisance.

Well, at long last I have ipsec installed and a tunnel configured and running that uses it! Nothing made me more happy than seeing the “STATE_QUICK_I2: sent QI2, IPsec SA established” message. Well, that’s not true - nothing made me happier than being able to ping a host on one network, through the tunnel from a host on the other network. The next step is to get Windows and OSX clients working with the server, which runs on linux. That has to happen sometime within the next 8 weeks. Hmm… For ipsec support on linux, visit the FreeS/WAN website.
